Solovan hands down sentences
ST. CLAIRSVILLE Several sentences were handed down in Belmont County Common Pleas Court. Judge John M. Solovan II presided.
Austin Hill, 20, Jacobsburg, was sentenced on a count of burglary, a felony of the third degree occurring July 22, 2012.
He was terminated from drug court. He also faces three pending charges of delivery in Marshall County.
Hill was sentenced to 30 months in the penitentiary with credit for 259 days served.
Defense said Hill wanted help with his drug issues. Solovan was also asked to consider Hill’s medical problems. Solovan noted Hill’s recklessness in an escalating pattern of drug and criminal behavior and the lasting emotional trauma to his burglary victim.
“Your pattern is escalating. Your behavior is getting out of control,” Solovan said, adding that judicial release is a possibility. “I hope that you can change your lifestyle.”
Bradley Wayne Crozier, 28, incarcerated, was sentenced to 30 months on one count of burglary, a felony of the third degree, 30 months for one count of third degree theft, and 12 months for one count of fourth degree theft, occurring April 10, 2013. Sentences will be served concurrently for a total of 30 months. Credit was given for 70 days served.
Solovan said the amount taken during the repeated home invasions was more than $50,000. He noted the economic harm to the victims and Crozier’s escalating pattern of criminal behavior, drug use and lack of remorse.
