Accident closes Ohio 7 in Bellaire for several hours
BELLAIRE – A three-vehicle accident on Ohio 7 Saturday night closed the southbound lanes for several hours.
At 9:19 p.m., a Cadillac driven by Debra Caldwell, 59, of 63405 Sand Hill Road, Bellaire, was traveling north in the southbound lanes near the 26th Street exit in Bellaire, and according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, struck two other vehicles which were southbound in the correct lanes.
The vehicles struck were a Buick Rendezvous driven by Jennifer Keller, 43, of 812 Virgina St., Martins Ferry, and a Mercury Cougar driven by Howard Dolin, 73, of 701 Twelfth St., Moundsville.
The Shadyside Emergency Squad and the Neffs Emergency Squad each took one person to Wheeling Hospital.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Dolin drove himself to Wheeling Hospital. The accident remains under investigation and charges are pending, according to the patrol.
Alcohol was considered to be a contributing factor in the accident.
THE PATROL is also investigating another Ohio 7 accident in Bellaire. This one occurred Sunday morning. A car traveling northbound crashed into the median shortly after 6 a.m.
No injuries were reported.
