Sisters survive Monroe crash

A PAIR of sisters survived a serious accident today in Monroe County.

It occurred shortly before 9 o’clock this morning on Monroe County Road 22. Their pickup truck hit a pothole, slid off the road and over a 60-foot embankment.

Authorities say the sisters were en route to school. A 16-year-old was driving, and a 9-year-old was her passenger. The 9-year-old girl was able to climb out of the wreckage and run to find help.

The 16-year-old sister was trapped for more than an hour. She was flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown for treatment. The 9-year-old was treated locally as a precautionary measure.
