Bridgeport battles waterline break
ANOTHER waterline break has plagued the village of Bridgeport, the latest one happened around 2:30 a.m. today in the 600 block of Main Street.
Mayor John Callarik said village crews are working feverishly to get the break repaired. Meanwhile, traffic in both directions is being re-routed over the Stop 10 bridge and the Marion Street bridge. Many areas of the village are without water.
“It looks like this is going to be an all-day job,” Callarik said. He said the pavement in the area of the break has buckled up.
Meanwhile, village police officers are handling the traffic situation. Callarik said many of the trucks cannot use the Stop 10 bridge because of weight restrictions. They are being re-routed over the Marion Street bridge.
Callarik said Main Street from the Stop 10 bridge to the Marion Street Bridge has been shut down.
