TL to publish tab featuring valley-based barns, farms

Farming has been a major part of history in and around the Ohio Valley for centuries and has laid the foundation for several counties in Ohio. Myriad farms in the Valley are family farms and they remain the major source of income for many, if not all, local farmers. Even those who reside within city limits are greatly affected by local farms. One would be hard pressed to find an individual residing within the Ohio Valley who does not know at least one farmer, whether a family member or friend.

One of the main staples of the numerous farms in the Ohio Valley is the barn, which has become somewhat of a quintessential part of the American way of life. It is where animals are housed and products, like hay, are stored. In essence, a farm cannot function properly without a big, sturdy barn.

In honor of these family farms and the generations that have kept this tradition alive, The Times Leader will publish a glossy cover tab that highlights and celebrates family farms and barns in the Ohio Valley that are 50 years old and older. The tab will be published on June 25. It will feature family farms and barns from Monroe, Noble, Guernsey, Belmont, Jefferson and Harrison counties. If you have or know anyone who has a barn that we could feature in our tab, please contact The Times Leader at 740-633-1131 or by email at timesleader@timesleader online.com. We can also be reached through our virtual newsroom.
