Bellaire resets council meeting

BELLAIRE – Most of the village was without power Thursday due to severe thunderstorms which occurred on Wednesday night and into the morning hours. In the absence of streetlights, stop signs were in place at the Belmont Street intersection near the Imperial Plaza to direct traffic throughout the busy daytime hours.

Although the city building was able to stay open during the day via a generator, Mayor Vincent DiFabrizio decided that under the current conditions, it was appropriate to reschedule Thursday night’s council meeting for the following week. The meeting will now take place on Thursday, May 22, at 6 p.m.

According to Village Administrator Dan Marling, the power company stated to village officials that an attempt to restore the power early Thursday afternoon was thwarted by yet another problem. Crews eventually managed to solve the issue, and power was restored to the village around 6 p.m. Thursday evening.
