Farmers’ market slated

The Ohio Valley Farmers’ Market will operate on Thursday from 3-6 p.m. at the Bel-Morr Market at exit 208 Morristown and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at 32nd Street in Bellaire.

Vegetables being offered will include potatoes, onions, lettuce, fresh herbs, snow peas, beets, zucchini, kohlrabi and Swiss chard.

Bakers will provide sourdough bread made with organic flour, granola, cookies, pies, pizzelles, baked goods made with stevia, and cakes.

Pasture-raised meat and eggs, dried herbs, pickles, dip mixes, fudge, jams, gourmet popcorn and locally roasted coffees are also available. New items this week include Frontier Natural Products tea blends.

Other vendors offer hand-painted slate and wood items, fresh-cut flowers, handmade soaps, tatted and crocheted items, doggie treats, all-natural personal care products and essential oils.

At the market tent, shoppers can sample Creole deviled eggs made with ingredients provided by OVFM vendors. Complimentary organic fair trade coffee is also offered. The OVFM also accepts SNAP benefits.

The market is sponsored by Belmont Savings Bank who provides free tote bags. The SNAP program is sponsored by Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes.
