Ney to speak at alma mater
BELLAIRE With an eye toward ensuring that America’s young people have the resources they need to be successful, Bob Ney, an outstanding St. John Central Alumnus, has committed to helping the St. John Central History Club raise money for its trip to Boston by agreeing to be the first keynote speaker at the Eagle Legacy Dinner Series on July 2, 2014.
The Eagle Legacy Dinner Series, presented jointly by Bob Ney and sponsored by The St. John Central History Club, under the supervision of Michael Loccisano, was created by the amount of public outpour for a chance to attend the lecture series. “Throughout the year, I have had several alumni and members of the community from outside the St. John family ask to attend the lectures,” said Loccisano. “We were trying to think of different ways to expand the Lecture to allow for continual growth. Our first attempt was to create the Eagle Legacy Summer Government course which is open to all local high school students. When Bob Ney agreed to be a guest speaker for this event, “a light bulb went off” and Night with Bob Ney was born. “This would be a great way to allow the lecture series to expand, while enabling a chance for the History Club to fundraise for our first major trip” said Loccisano.
Ney will discuss topics from his run-ins with Jack Abramoff, Speaker of the House John Boehner and many other events of his life captured in his book Sideswiped: Lessons Learned Courtesy of the Hit Men of Capitol Hill. There will be a book signing or a chance to get your photograph taken with Bob Ney immediately following dinner.
The dinner will be held in the St. John Central Gym on July 2. The event starts at 6 p.m. and the doors will open at 5:30.
This is a ticketed event and tickets must be purchased in advance. Tickets are available at St. John Central High School (740) 676-4932, and the Bellaire Dairy Queen 676-2508.
