Week three for summer reading program at BCDL

The third week of the Belmont County District Library’s Summer Reading program begins on Tuesday, June 24th with two more shows by Mark “the Bugman” Berman. At 11:00 AM, Mark and his bugs will be at the main branch in Martins Ferry. Their second show will be at Bridgeport at 1:00 PM.

Also on June 24th, the main library in Martins Ferry will be hosting a Murder Mystery for teens and tweens. Participants will work together to figure out whodunit and how. Along the way, participants will get a chance to win some cool and useful prizes. Snacks and drinks will be served to all enterprising young detectives.

Returning events include Amazing Science with Lisa Schlanz. Lisa will be visiting the Bethesda and Flushing branches on June 27th. Bethesda’s event will take place at 11:00 AM while Flushing’s will be held at 1:00 PM.

On Wednesday, June 25th, Powhatan and Shadyside will host the library’s first Discover Soil With Worms events. Belmont Soil & Water Conservation District employee Kim Brewster will make an appearance at both locations to teach kids about the science of soil. Participants will get a worm of their own and the chance to build a terrarium for it. Discover Soil With Worms will be held at Powhatan at 10:00 AM and Shadyside at 1:00 PM.

Other events throughout the week include Martin’s Ferry’s second Summer Movie Night at 5:00 PM on Monday, June 23rd and Storytime, which will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 25th in Martins Ferry and 11:30 AM on Tuesday, June 24th in Shadyside. Babytime will be held at 10:00 AM and again at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 26th in Martins Ferry.
