The Board of Trustees of the Ohio Valley Health Services and Education Corporation will hold it’s annual meeting on Wednesday at noon in the living room of the Nurses Residence at Ohio Valley Medical Center.

Mental health board to meet

THE Mental Health and Recovery Board will hold its regular meeting at 6 p.m on Tuesday at the board office, 99 N. Sugar St., St. Clairsville. The board services Belmont Harrison and Monroe counties.

Olney hosting fishing event

THE Passport to Fishing Program will be held Tuesday at Olney Friends School at 68130 Sandy Ridge Road, Barnesville. The event, sponsored by the Belmont SWCD, will begin at 9 a.m. and conclude at noon. Registration will be at 8:45 a.m.

The program is also sponsored by the Division of Wildlife and is to educate all ages on casting, safety, fishing knots and rigging, fish habitat and handling, fishing regulations, identifying fish and how to read a map.

All ages are welcome to participate in the free program which is limited to the first 20 participants., If you are 17 years of age and younger, you can receive a free fishing pole for completing the course. You are advised to dress accordingly to the weather. RSVP to the Belmont SWCD today.

UL to hold board meetings

The Union Local School District will hold a special board of education meeting on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in the ULHS Library. The purpose of this meeting is to hold a public hearing regarding the re-employment retirees. The board will hold its regular meeting on Thursday at 6 p.m. in the ULHS Library.

Human Rights panel to meet

THE WHEELING Human Rights Commission will meet Tuesday at noon in the City Council Chambers, located on the first floor of the Ohio County Courthouse, 1500 Chapline St., Wheeling. The meeting is open to the public.

Bridgeport Council meets Tuesday

THE VILLAGE of Bridgeport will hold its regularly scheduled council meeting on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in council chambers in the Bridgeport Municipal Building.

Temperanceville church picnic set

THE ANNUAL picnic sponsored by St. Mary Church, Temperanceville, will be held Sunday July 27.

Barbeque chicken and roast beef dinners will be served with homemade mashed potatoes and gravy, homemade noodles, homemade cole slaw, green beans, rolls and homemade desserts with drinks. Dinners will be served from 11 a..m to 2 p.m. Chickens and dinners to go will also be available.

A raffle, games, crafts and bingo will be available throughout the day on Sunday. The will be a dance in the evening from 7-10 pm. with music by the Little Creek Band., There will also be a concession stand.

On Saturday, July 26, there will be a dance from 9 p.m. to midnight with music by Deep Down Country Band. A concession stand will also be open.

DOH announces restriction

THE West Virginia Division of Highways advises of a temporary height restriction on the 18th Street exit ramp from northbound US 250 beginning on July 7.

Previously the 18th street exit ramp passed under US 250 with 17 feet of vertical clearance under the lowest steel members of the overpass bridge.

Since the 18th Street exit ramp is two lanes wide, there will also be ramp lane closures occurring for worker safety as paint crews work directly above one or the other individual lanes.

St. Mary’s festival planned

ST. Mary, Shadyside will hold its annual festival on Friday Saturday and Sunday, July 11,12 and 13 at the church grounds in Shadyside.

On Friday, from noon to 6 p.m. there will be a fish fry. On Saturday from 5:30-10 p.m. Italian sausage will be available and the Dynamic Trio will provide live entertainment.

On Sunday, from noon to 7 p.m. there will be the open pit BAR-B-Q chicken dinners with live entertainment featuring the Biela Family, the Stewart Family and White Collar Criminals Band. Games, food, refreshments, baked goods, theme baskets, raffles, live music and dancing will be the highlight s on Saturday and Sunday. There is free admission and free parking on the church grounds.

Ormet retirees meet Tuesday

THE ORMET Retirees Club Local 5724 will meet Tuesday at 1 p.m., at the Union Hall in Clarington. The Retiree Club is inviting all workers that retired from Ormet to join the club.

Antioch Festival planned

ANTIOCH – The fireman’s festival, sponsored by the Antioch and Community Volunteer Fire Department, is scheduled July 11-12. A parade will be July11 at 7 p.m., and there’ll be a water battle after the parade.

Entertaining July 12 will be Not So Rich and Famous.

The kitchen will be open both days from 5-8 p.m. Barbecued chicken and ribs, pizza, homemade pies and other home-cooked foods will be available.

Varied games and a cornhole tournament are planned, and a country store will be open both nights.

Trophies will be awarded in connection with the parade for the best-appearing fire truck, oldest fire truck, newest fire truck, longest distance traveled fire truck and best-appearing antique vehicle.
