Caregivers appreciation dinner being planned

Several local agencies are planning the Fourth Annual Caregiver Appreciation dinner to be held at The Belmont County Club in St. Clairsville on Sept. 11, 2014 from 6-8 p.m.

This will be a complimentary dinner for any unpaid family caregiver caring for a friend, relative, neighbor etc. Caregiving does not have to be full time and your loved-one does not have to reside with you.

The only requirement is the caregiver must reside in Belmont County and may not be paid for the care they provide. The person they are caring for may live anywhere.

“This dinner is designed to give caregivers a few hours of time away from caregiving duties and focuses totally on giving the caregiver a special ‘thank you’ for all they do” states Laurel DuBeck, RN, Community Education Coordinator from the Area Agency on Aging, Region 9.

The evening will include a complimentary dinner and entertainment for a caregiver and one guest, as well as door prizes, mini-massages and fellowship for the caregiver. “We will also be selecting a Belmont County Caregiver of the Year,” states DuBeck. “We are looking for stories of caregivers in Belmont County that go above and beyond in the care of their loved one.” The recipient of the award will receive their framed nomination, a framed certificate and a special gift basket, courtesy of Jarvis Law.

Since this dinner is free to caregivers of Belmont County, registration is required.

To register, or to obtain a Caregiver of the Year nomination form, please contact Laurel at (800) 945-4250 ext. 4719.

Leave your name and phone number and the names of those attending with you (while a caregiver and one guest may attend free, there is a $10 charge for additional guest).

Sponsors to date: The Area Agency on Aging, Region 9; M.C. Mobility Systems; Valley Hospice; Carriage Inn Home Care; Amedysis Hospice; Jarvis Law; Interim Healthcare; Dusini Drug; and DeCaria Brothers Pharmacies.
