Harpers Ferry excursion set
AMTRAK excursion to Harpers Ferry, W.Va., sponsored by the Great Stone Viaduct Historical Education Society, has limited seating remaining for the Oct. 4 fall trip. This one-day trip will provide bus transportation to Pittsburgh from Bellaire and return. At Pittsburgh, the group will board the Capitol Limited bound for Washington, D.C., and will arrive in Harpers Ferry before noon.
The rail trip will make station stops in Connellsville, Pa.; Cumberland, Md..; and Martinsburg, W.Va., before arriving in Harpers Ferry.
Passengers will enjoy this scenic town, its eateries and shops, a GSV Society spokesman noted,
History abounds in this Civil War era town. Harpers Ferry is best known for the famous precursor to the Civil War being the raid of John Brown on the federal arsenal.
The confluence of the Shenandoah and Potomac rivers in fall color will make this trip one to remember, according to the spokesman.
Late afternoon, the group will board the Capitol Limited heading toward Chicago and arrive in Pittsburgh for the return bus trip to Bellaire.
