Judge Solovan holds Common Pleas Court
ST. CLAIRSVILLE Several sentences were handed down during Friday’s session of Belmont County Common Pleas Court. Judge John M. Solovan II presided.
Patrick Thomas Mazik, 27, 207 East Main St., Holloway, was sentenced on one count of possession of weapons under disability, a felony of the third degree occurring March 13, 2014, and receiving stolen property, drugs resulting from a burglary, a felony of the fourth degree. He was given a sentence of 36 months for the first count and 12 months for the second, to be served consecutively for a total of 48 months. He was given credit for 127 days served. Solovan noted his criminal history, including two arson charges as an adult.
Adam Shanks, 23, incarcerated, was sentenced on a count of burglary of a jewelry establishment, a felony of the third degree occurring Nov. 3, 2013. He was sentenced to 36 months in the penitentiary, concurrent with his present 24-month sentence. He was given credit for 216 days served. Restitution of $25 hundred was ordered. Judicial release may be considered.
Solovan noted Shanks’ demonstrated pattern of drug abuse and unlawful entry.
Solovan added that individuals who purchase stolen property do not gain a title to those items.
Ricky David Runner Jr., 27, incarcerated, was arraigned and pleaded not guilty to illegal manufacture of methamphetamines, a felony of the second degree occurring March 14, 2014, trafficking in methamphetamines, a felony of the fourth degree occurring Nov. 17, 2013, trafficking in marijuana, illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of methamphetamines, a felony of the second degree, and possession of methamphetamines, a felony of the fifth degree. His status conference will be held, Aug. 15, with plea agreement Sept. 12 and trial Sept. 16.
He faces a maximum sentence of 19.5 years. Bond was set at $30,000.
Martin Edgar Regoli, 55, 65201 Union St., Neffs, pleaded guilty to attempted possession of chemicals for the manufacture of methamphetamines, a felony of the third degree occurring, Jan. 17, 2014. Sentence was set for Sept. 26. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered.
Michael Christopher Smith, 44, 2486 Lindfield Circle, Effingham, pleaded guilty to one count of possession of heroin, a felony of the fifth degree occurring June 3, 2014. Sentence was set for Aug. 15. A pre-sentence investigation and Crossroads evaluation were ordered.
Barbara Ann Tittle, incarcerated, was arraigned and pleaded not guilty to complicity to the illegal manufacture of methamphetamines, a felony of the first degree occurring May 15, 2014, and one count allowing a child to be in the vicinity of the illegal manufacture of drugs, a felony of the third degree. Her plea agreement was set for Aug. 15, with Trial Sept. 9. She faces a maximum of 14 years.
Christopher L. Hicks, 28, 2103 Pennsylvania Avenue, Weirton, admitted to violating his probation and by attempting to possess drugs. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail. He was originally convicted of attempted aggravated vehicular assault, a felony of the fourth degree occurring May 27, 2011.
Alex Joseph Davtovich, 27, incarcerated, pleaded guilty to rape of a child younger than 10, a felony of the first degree occurring Oct. 1, 2012. Sentence was set for Sept. 12. A pre-sentence investigation and victim impact statement were ordered. He faces a maximum sentence of life without parole or life without consideration of parole for five-15 years. He has pending charges of possession of child pornography in another court. He will be designated as a Tier 3 offender.
