New assistant dog warden named in Belmont County

ST. CLAIRSVILLE During Wednesday’s meeting, the Belmont County Commissioners appointed Ashley Ferda as the temporary assistant dog warden beginning July 7-Dec. 31, 2014 at the rate of $9.50 per hour. She will be eligible for a 50-cent raise after the 120-day probationary period. Her appointment may be reviewed at the end of the term of the board chooses.

Commissioner Mark Thomas noted that this motion, along with last week’s motion to appointment of Lisa Williams as the dog warden, specified each appointment as temporary and to possibly be reviewed at the end each term.

“We want to assure the public that it was only stated this way so that each position would run concurrent with the terms of the BCARL contract. Said contract ends December 31, 2014, and the Commission and BCARL board are actively working on revising the terms and conditions of said contract.”

The mutual intent as of this date is to formulate, agree upon and sign a new contract and the aforementioned employees would stay on in their current capacities under the newly-revised terms.
