Third fire victim dies

CADIZ – The fire that happened early on Wednesday morning at 42009 Upper Clearfork Road has claimed a third victim.

On Wednesday, two young children died as a result of their injuries. Their mother was flown to a Pittsburgh-area burn center, but her injuries proved too extensive and she passed away on Thursday.

The house fire also sent two others to the hospital, though their injuries were not life-threatening. The home appears to be a total loss. Units from the Ohio Fire Marshal’s office and a detective from the Harrison County Sheriff’s office were on scene investigating on Wednesday afternoon, but no findings on a cause have been released yet.

A candlelight vigil for the victims has been planned for Monday, July 21 at 8 p.m. at the courthouse.
