Two Martins Ferry Boy Scouts promoted to Eagle
Two Martins Ferry Boy Scouts were promoted to the rank of Eagle Scout during Court of Honor ceremonies last week.
Ryan Lewton and David Goclan, both of Martins Ferry, earned the highest rank in scouting after completing the requirements for the award.
Lewton is the son of Jay and Sarah Lewton. Goclan is the son of Michael Goclan.
Both members of Troop 51 are Brotherhood members of the Order of the Arrow, scouting’s honor camper program, and attended the Boy Scout 100-year anniversary National Jamboree in 2010.
Lewton’s Eagle project was the replacement of the handicapped ramp of the Scotch Ridge Presbyterian Church, while Goclan refurbished a garage for the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Martins Ferry.
Lewton just graduated from Buckeye Local High School and plans to attend Muskingum University. Goclan just graduated from St. John Central High School and has joined the U.S. Air Force.
