MF schools offer teacher information
As required by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, the Martins Ferry City School District offers parents the opportunity to request information regarding the professional qualifications of their child’s teacher(s). This information may include:
If the teacher has met state qualification and licensing criteria for the grade level and subject areas taught,
If the teacher is teaching under emergency or provisional status, Baccalaureate degree major, graduate certification, and field of discipline,
Whether the student is provided services by a paraprofessional and, if so, his or her qualifications.
In order to assist each teacher in becoming highly qualified, the district provides guidance and assistance through the Local Professional Development Team for teachers to complete necessary course work toward certification/licensure, works with the Ohio Department of Education regarding certification/licensure issues, provides a district mentoring program for all new staff members, and strives to hire teachers who meet the highly qualified teacher definition.
