Suspect confesses to starting fire in bar

THE BELMONT County Sheriff’s Office have arrested Timothy Earl Camp Jr., 26, on felony one charges of aggravated arson and aggravated burglary in connection with the fire that broke out in the Beech Hill Bar on Saturday night.

According to Belmont County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy James Zusack, Camp was arrested on Sunday at 6 p.m.

The structure fire at the Beech Hill Bar broke out around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday in the basement of the building. Upon further inspection, the Ohio State Fire Marshal’s Office determined that the fire was an act of arson.

Camp had to break into the bottom of the building in order to light the fire, said Zusack.

He was a suspect and was brought in for a interview at which point he confessed to lighting the fire and was taken into custody.

Zusack was not at liberty to release the motive behind Camp lighting the fire at the Beech Hill Bar.

Camp was taken into the Belmont County Jail and has a $20,000 bond.
