Bus crash injures multiple Buckeye Local students

WEST LIBERTY – Multiple Buckeye Local High School students were injured when their school bus hit a tree along W.Va. 88 near West Liberty.

According to Ohio County Sheriff Tom Howard, eight students were injured, although he does not believe any of the injuries are life-threatening.

Howard said five of the injuries can be termed “minor,” while three others are “trauma” injuries, which he said can range from anything to a cut or complaining of neck pain to more serious problems.

Several of the students were transported from the scene by ambulance, but Howard was unsure exactly how many.

The uninjured students were loaded onto another Buckeye Local school bus.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
