New auditor named in Belmont County
ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The Belmont County Democratic Party Executive Committee appointed a new county auditor this evening in the wake of Andy Sutak’s retirement.
Sutak, who has worked in the auditor’s office for three decades, announced his decision to retire several weeks ago, citing health concerns as his reason. His current term in office does not expire until March 2019, and Ohio law states the executive committee of his political party must choose a successor to complete that term.
The committee met Monday and chose Roger Conroy, another longtime staff member of the auditor’s office, to serve until 2019. He has been serving as interim auditor since Sutak stepped down.
