Drug bust yields arrests
MORRISTOWN — Three Coshocton residents were arrested Wednesday by members of the Belmont County Major Crimes Unit during a drug “buy bust” at the Pilot Truck Stop in Morristown, according to the Belmont County Sheriff’s Department.
St. Clairsville police Officer T.J. Weyand, a member of the unit, had been investigating several people suspected to be involved in trafficking methamphetamine from the Coshocton area into Belmont County. This investigation led to a “buy bust” being conducted and three arrests were made:
∫ Amy Mount, 47, of Coshocton, who was charged with possession of drug abuse instruments. She is lodged at the Belmont County Jail on a $750 bond;
∫ Chaz Gillilan, 31, of Coshocton, arrested for possession of methamphetamine, weapons under disability, carrying a concealed weapon and receiving stolen property. Gillilan is at the county jail on $80,000 total bonds; and
∫ Devin Carpenter, 25, of Coshocton, arrested for possession of methamphetamine, weapons under disability, carrying a concealed weapon, receiving stolen property, and trafficking in drugs. Carpenter is lodged at the county jail on $30,000 total bonds.
Recovered during the bust were 34 grams of meth, a loaded 9 mm handgun, which was reported stolen out of Guernsey County, and various drug paraphernalia
The Belmont County Prosecutor’s Office will be reviewing possible additional charges, according to the sheriff’s department.
