Harrison County Home in Cadiz requests grant to upgrade sprinkler system
Harrison Co. Home seeking funding
CADIZ– The Harrison County Home requested a $10,305.71 grant for the replacement of 212 sprinkler heads at Wednesdays Harrison County Board of Commissioners meeting.
The grant has been submitted to the International Fire Suppression Alliance Grant Program.
The need to replace 105 Sprinklers, 126 Uprights, 66 Pendants, and 20 Vertical Side walls, at the Harrison County Home, is apart of a new State requirement. Superintendent to the home, Ed Banks expressed that the sprinkler system must be changed every 50 years, according to State requirements.
The historical Harrison County Home is now a home for the elderly and is in need of repairs.
Banks also submitted a Request for Proposal regarding the modernization of their elevator, which was installed in 1974.
According to the project description on the proposal, the repairs to the elevator include, the cabin, hoisting equipment, machine room equipment and controls, identifying water and any other penetration issues, along with necessary HVAC and electrical upgrades to meet the current State Codes and ADA Accessibility guidelines requirements.
They are currently seeking construction vendors to complete the needed repairs to the County Home.
