SHADYSIDE– Jefferson Avenue Elementary School received two awards from the Ohio Department of Education.
The elementary school was recognized at the Ohio School Boards Association’s Southeast Region Spring Conference on March 26. The conference was held at Northern Local’s Sheridan High School in Thornville this year.
The Southeast Region is comprised of 18 counties, representing 84 school districts. This year, 28 districts and 310 schools earned the Over All ‘A’ Award, and two districts and 57 schools received the All ‘A’ Award for earning straight A’s.
The Shadyside school earned both, the Overall ‘A’ Award and the All ‘A’ Award, for the 2017-2018 academic school year. It was their first time receiving either award.
According to the State Board of Education School and District Performance Award criteria, all public districts and schools with an overall summative grade assigned are eligible to receive these awards. In order for the school to receive the Overall ‘A’ Award, the school must have an overall sum total grade of ‘A’, on the Ohio School Report Card in 2018. For the All ‘A’ Award, the school must earn an ‘A’ on all applicable measures and components on the Ohio School Report Card in 2018.
