Police seek suspects in fatal shooting of a Steubenville man
STEUBENVILLE — A Steubenville man was shot to death in his bed early Monday and police are searching for the gunmen.
The shooting occurred at about 4 a.m. Monday at an apartment in the 1100 block of Lincoln Avenue.
Police reported a man and woman were in bed at 1140D Lincoln Ave. when the girlfriend said two men came into the apartment and shot her boyfriend, who was identified as Perrier D. Coleman, 23, of Steubenville.
Police detectives and agents from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation were at the apartment Monday morning searching for evidence.
There have been several reports of shots being fired during the past several days in the city, officials said.
Police were called at about 11:04 p.m. on Sunday to the area of South Eighth and Adams streets about shots fired. Officers also were called shortly before midnight on Sunday to the area of Railroad Avenue and the 600 block of South Sixth Street regarding possible shots fired. about shots fired.
Officers reported finding no evidence that shots had been fired at either location.
Police reported it is unknown if the shots fired have any connection to the fatal shooting.
