BRIDGEPORT — Arson is suspected in a house fire that occurred Wednesday night.

The North Lincoln Avenue structure, located near the closed Aetnaville Bridge, went up in flames around 9:30 p.m. Brian Bohnert, public information officer for the Ohio Department of Commerce, Division of State Fire Marshal, said the fire originated on the side porch of the home. The flames spread to the house as well.

Bohnert confirmed that investigators believe the fire was intentionally set.

“Thankfully there were no injuries as a result of the fire,” he said.

The home was empty at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. The house has been vacant for about three to five, Bohnert said.

Officers with the Bridgeport Police Department are assisting the Ohio State Fire Marshal’s Office in the investigation. Police Chief John Bumba could not be reached Friday for further information.

Anyone with information pertaining to this fire is asked to call the fire marshal’s tip line at 800-589-2728.
