GIBSON, Helen Louise

GIBSON, Helen Louise, 86, of Shadyside, Ohio, died Tuesday, September 14, 2010, in the Shadyside Care Center.

She was born October 5, 1923 in Avondale, Ohio, a daughter of the late Harvey W. and Emma Crow Parker.

Helen was a member of the Lincoln Ave. United Methodist Church, Shadyside, Ohio where she was active in supporting her church, and worked for Fisher Body in Cleveland, Ohio as a Rosy the Riveter making bomber parts for the war effort for WWII.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Roth Gibson, three sisters, Ruthie Parker, Pearl Hill and Ethel Rejonis, a brother, Howard B. Parker and a granddaughter, Megan Gibson.

Surviving are two children, William “Bill” (Jackie) Gibson, and Barbara (Kim) Althar, all of Shadyside, Ohio, five grandchildren, Michael, Matthew and Marissa Gibson, Emily (Ronnie) Dietz, Julie Althar, three great grand children Parker Gibson, Austin and Allison Dietz and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 17, 2010 at the Lincoln Avenue United Methodist Church, Shadyside, from noon until the time of service at 1 p.m. with Rev. Randy Weaver officiating.

Interment will follow in Powhatan Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lincoln Ave. United Methodist Church, Shadyside, Ohio.

Family and friends will be received Thursday, September 16, 2010 at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Home and Crematory, 3900 Central Ave., Shadyside, from 6-9 p.m. Visitation will be held Friday, September 17, at the Lincoln Ave. United Methodist Church, Shadyside, from noon until the time of service at 1 p.m. with Reverend Randy Weaver officiating. Interment will follow in Powhatan Cemetery.
