FIGURAY, George Michael Sr.

FIGURAY, SR., George Michael, 86 of William Street, Yorkville, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010 in Wheeling Hospital.

He was born May 7, 1924 in Barton, a son of the late John G. and Anna (Palicko) Figuray.

George was a retired self employed contractor, a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Bellaire, a member of the Bricklayers and Mason’s Union No. 14 Steubenville, the American Legion, a veteran of WWII in the US Navy serving on the USS Pensacola, where he was in seven major battles in the Pacific.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Pauline (Magnone) Figuray in 2001, a brother Paul Figuray, and a sister Elizabeth Kovacs.

George is survived by a son George M. Figuray Jr. (Mary Ellen) of Columbus, a daughter Nancy Murray (Gene) of St. Clairsville, three brothers John Figuray (Mary) of Blaine, Steve Figuray (Shirley) of St. Clairsville, James Figuray of Colerain, three sisters Margaret Klier of Colerain, Rose Marie Kompier (Stephen) of Adena, and JoAnn Black (Robert) of Bridgeport, two grandchildren Jimmy and Jennifer Murray, and two step-grandsons David and Justin Gardner.

Friends will be received at the Wilson Funeral Home, 102 Main Street, Tiltonsville, Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010 from 4-8 p.m., where Funeral Liturgy with Mass to be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Lucy’s Catholic Church, Yorkville, with Msg. Gene Mullett officiating. Interment in Holly Memorial Gardens Pleasant Grove. Wake service will be said Sunday at 4:15 p,m.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Irish Youth Sports Inc. 5120 Guernsey St., Bellaire, Ohio 42906-9517.
