SUSTERSIC, Louis Edward

SUSTERSIC, Louis Edward, 95, of Kimbolton, Ohio, after three weeks of suffering, passed at home with his wife and family at his side to the welcoming arms of his Savior, on Friday August 17, 2012.

He was born in Blaine, Ohio on November 13, 1916, a son of the late Louis and Mary Galob Sustersic.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother Ursula; a son, Captain Louis R. Sustersic (Vietnam); sisters, Mary, Anne, Josephine, Helen, Ceil and Lillian; a step-sister, Frances; and a daughter-in- law Jean Sustersic.

He was a strong, gentle man who loved his wife of 62 years. There was nothing this man could not do.

After retiring as superintendent over 1400 steel workers at Republic Steel in Cleveland, Ohio, he bought 67 acres of farm land in Guernsey County. There he flourished for 30 years of retirement.

He raised beef cattle, wheat, oats, and sold his harvests at auctions where his hay always got the highest bid for it was the best.

In his lifetime, he designed and built four homes for him and his wife. The fourth house, he designed at age 91, but contracted construction to a builder. He never stopped thinking, designing and simplifying a job.

He loved gardening, be it vegetables or flowers, his were the best. His large family was always at their home for any celebration and he will be greatly missed by many.

Louis is survived by his wife Jean Waugh Sustersic; a son, Edward G. Sustersic of St. Clairsville, Ohio; daughters, Joann Volan (John) of Bridgeport, Lynda Riedel (John) of Akron, Ohio; grandchildren, Marnie (Tom) McCardle, John J. “JJ” Volan Jr. of Elyria, Lois (Mario) Julian, of Wheeling, Wendy (Scott) Radinovic of McDonald, PA, Laurie Ratcliff (Don) of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, John (Becky) Riedel of Brimfield, Ohio, Jennifer Riedel of Cuyahoga Falls; great-grandchildren, Richard Miller, Myranda Miller both of Brimfield, JD, Katy and Robert McCardle, Valorie and Allison Julian; Ariel and Rachel Radinovic, Adam Nestor, Elizabeth Nestor, great-great grandchildren, David McCune, Avery Mise, and Aiden Parry.

Friends will be received Tuesday 2-4 and 5-7 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Road, Brookside, Ohio, where vigil service will be held at 2 p.m. with Rev. John Mucha.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday August 22, 2012 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wolfhurst, Ohio, with Fr. Borer, as celebrant.

Interment will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery, Blaine, Ohio.
