KEEFER, William “Bill” Jackson

KEEFER, William “Bill” Jackson, 87, of Bellaire, OH, formerly of Wheeling, WV, graduated to glory on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Wheeling Hospital following a brief illness. He was surrounded by great family love and the tender care of angel nurses.

Bill was a wonderful husband, father, big brother, and uncle to his family and very attentive to his many friends. He attained his Eagle Scout honor at age 14.

Bill grew up on Wheeling Island. He attended Thomson United Methodist Church for 50 years. His recent church home was East Richland Friends Church, St. Clairsville.

Bill graduated from Wheeling High School and went on to receive his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Carnegie Institute of Technology.

Bill used his engineering talent for 30 years at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, then at Blaw-Knox and he finished his career with Mine Health and Safety Administration.

He is preceded in death by his parents, W. Frank Keefer and Claire Kilgore Keefer, and a son, Gregory W. Keefer.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara Cress Keefer; a son, Dr. Frederick F. Keefer and his wife Jill, of Washington, PA; a daughter, Nina “Nicki” Keefer, of Pittsburgh, PA; two brothers, Robert F. Keefer and his wife Rebecca, of Bellaire, OH, and Dr. F. Jay Keefer and his wife Susanne of Wheeling; five nieces; three nephews; three great- nieces; and 13 great- nephews. Also, at his marriage he adopted four more brothers, the late William Cress and his late wife, Kitty, Robert Cress, Richard Cress and his wife, Juanita, and Don Cress and his wife, Carla; and a dear sister- in-law, Roxie Derheimer.

Friends will be received Tuesday, October 30, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Kepner Funeral Home, 900 National Road, Wheeling (304-232-2732).

Friends will also be received Wednesday, October 31, 2012 from 10 until time of service at 11 a.m. at East Richland Friends Church, 67885 Friends Church Road, St. Clairsville, OH, with Pastor Jerry Wenger and Reverend Wayne Ickes officiating.

Interment at the convenience of the family.
