FERRELL, James W. “Jim,” 73, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, died Friday, November 2, 2012 at Liza’s Place in Wheeling.
He was born near Dallas Pike, WV, on July 12, 1939, a son of the late William J. and Lillie F. Hughes Ferrell.
Jim was the first Allstate Insurance agent in Belmont County and retired after 22 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a member of First Presbyterian Church in St. Clairsville, Weyer Lodge #541 F.& A.M. in Centerville, American Legion Post 159 in St. Clairsville, and a former member of the St. Clairsville-Richland Township Memorial Park Board and St. Clairsville Noon Rotary Club.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Glenda Mayberry Ferrell; a son, James A. “Jimmy” Ferrell; and his brothers, Roy E. and Paul E. Ferrell.
He is survived by a son, Rick (Faye) Ferrell; daughters Stacey (Doug) Longenette and Michelle (Kevin) Hendershot, all of St. Clairsville, and Beth (Steve) Richards of Circleville, OH; and son Nick (Tracy) Kowalski of Nashport, OH; his sister, Helen (John) Lucas of Valley Grove, WV; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and special friend Victoria.
The family will receive friends at the Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville on Sunday from 7-9 p.m. and Monday from noon to 3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. with Belmont Co. Council of American Legion services at 7 p.m. then on Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church, St. Clairsville from 9 a.m. to time of service at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Homer Harden officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.
