ARMITAGE, John W, “Jack,” 88, died Saturday, March 23, 2013 at his home in Martins Ferry Ohio.

Jack was born on May 22, 1924 in Tiltonsville, Ohio, to the late John G and Catherine (Welsh) Armitage.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lois (Kyre) Armitage; a brother, Robert P Armitage; a sister, Catherine (Armitage) Reardon; a granddaughter, Amy Armitage; and a special companion, Lucille Dombeck.

Jack was a Veteran of WWII serving in the 556th AAA BTRY D in the U.S. Ninth Army. He was engaged in all actions of the Ninth Army from France to the River Elbe; a self-employed contractor; a maintenance Super Intendant at Belots Block Plant; a life time member of the Tiltonsville Fire Department; a life time member of the V.F.W. Post 4811, Yorkville and Methodist by Faith.

He is survived by three sons, John D (Joann) Armitage, of Rayland, Mark (Loretta) Armitage, of Tiltonsville and Gary (Barbara) Armitage, of Martins Ferry; a special step- daughter, Sue (Randy) Bohall; a dear friend, Rose Ridgeway; six grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received to pay tribute to Jack and celebrate his life on Monday, March 25, from 6-9 p.m. at the Borkoski Funeral Home, Tiltonsville, Ohio and Tuesday, from 10 a.m. until service time of 11 a.m., from the funeral home with Reverend Tom Thomas and Pastor Jim Monogioudis officiating.

Full Military Services will be conducted at 10:45 a.m. by The Belmont County V.F.W. Honor Guard.

Burial will be held at Holly Memorial Gardens, Colerain, Ohio.
