HEDDLESON, Charles William “Bill”

HEDDLESON, Charles William “Bill”, 88, of St. Clairsville, died Sunday, March 10, 2013, at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry.

He was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on October 15, 1924, son of the late Charles F. Heddleson and Anna Louisa Smith Heddleson.

Bill was a retired employee of Wheeling- Pittsburgh Steel’s Martins Ferry Plant with 50 years of service. He was a World War II veteran serving with the 33rd Infantry Division and 3186 Signal Service Battalion in the South Pacific, Phillipines and Japan.

Bill was a member of East Richland Evangelical Friends Church; a member of Weyer Lodge 541 F. & A.M.; Weyer Chapter 515 Order of Eastern Star both at Centerville; Osiris Shrine; Osiris Legion of Honor both in Wheeling; Bel-Mon Shrine Club; Scottish Rite Valley of Steubenville; American Legion Post 38 in Martins Ferry; and member and past president of the Big Band 200 Ballroom Dance Club; past member and president of Bec-Oli 4-H Club in Colerain; past member and Secretary of Colerain Vol. Fire Dept. and past member of Martins Ferry Rotary Club.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Mary C. Vannest Heddleson.

Surviving are two sisters, Ruth Pickenpaugh of St. Clairsville, OH and Hazel Green of Wheeling, WV; several nieces and nephews Family and friends will be received on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville where services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jerry Wenger and Rev. Wayne Ickes officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.

Weyer Lodge will conduct Masonic Funeral Services on Tuesday at 7:45 p.m. in the funeral home.
