LIDDLE, Helen M. (Hensel) 85, of Bridgeport, OH, passed away in the company of her family, on April 22, 2013, at Acuity Hospital, Bellaire, OH.
Helen was born Dec. 21, 1927 to John and Sarah (Haught) Hensel. Due to the early death of her mother, she was raised by her sister, Carrie Price in Bridgeport, OH.
Helen was preceded in death by husband, Jim, her parents, sisters; Carrie Price, Dorothy Shockey, Nora Rach, Gladys Hensel and brothers; Earl Hensel and Grover Hensel.
She is survived by a son, John Liddle of FL, a daughter, Susie Moore of Bridgeport, a granddaughter, Amanda Moore of Chicago, IL and many nieces and nephews.
She was a graduate of Bridgeport High School, class of 1945.
As Helen would say, she worked for The Telephone Company. During her time, the company was known as AT&T, Ohio Bell and Ameritech. She was a member of the CWA and Telephone Pioneers. She learned how to use a computer in the early 70’s, before any of us could understand her jokes about a “cursor”. She was a former Cub Scout Leader. She was a former Sunday School Teacher at West End Methodist Church.
Helen loved family, friends, birds, nature and learning about new medical treatments. She always looked out for others before herself. Her primary concern was always how she could help those she loved.
The family will honor her request for no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Martins Ferry Volunteer Fire Dept, who helped her on many occasions.
Arrangements by Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH.
