GALLAHER, Donald R., 81, of Crozier Ridge, Jacobsburg, Ohio died Friday, May 10, 2013 at his home.
He was born at Pipe Creek on May 3, 1932 a son of the late John Cole and Lucille Venhams Gallaher.
Don was a retired coal miner from Consol Energy’s #4 mine at Clarington, a member of the United Mine Workers of America and a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Donald “Dee” Gallaher and a sister, Bernice Baker.
He is survived by his wife, Geneva Crozier Gallaher; sons, Vern (Joan) Gallaher and John (Penny) Gallaher both of Jacobsburg; daughter, Penny (Bob) Russell of Shadyside; grandchildren, Bobby (Melissa) Russell, Dawn (Jake) Allen, Dusty Gallaher and Jessi (Jaymes) Taylor; great – grandchildren, Olivia and Kailyn Russell; brothers, Harold “Red” Gallaher and Laverne “Sonny Gallaher; sisters, Patty Gallaher and Sandy Materkoski.
Friends will be received at the Toothman Funeral Home, Jacobsburg, Ohio on Monday from 11 a.m. to time of service at 1 p.m. with Pastor Randy Weaver officiating. Burial will follow in Powhatan Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers it was Don’s request that friends and family make memorial contributions the Children’s Charity of their choice.
