PASZTOR, Steve, 97, of Bridgeport, Ohio, died Thursday, June 6, 2013, at East Ohio Regional Hospital Martins Ferry.
He lived his entire life in the Bridgeport/Martins Ferry area with the exception of supporting the WWII effort by being a welder in the shipyards of Baltimore Harbor.
Steve was a well- respected local businessman, maintaining a trucking, excavating / grading and heavy equipment business in Aetnaville prior to the new Route 7 being built; he then relocated that business to Lansing where he continued to drive to work everyday until his death.
Steve was the President of Pasztor Trucking as well as the President of Cardinal Fuel and Supply.
His family and friends were blessed with his astute business sense and willingness to share his knowledge to the benefit others. He always made you feel like he was genuinely interested in you. His “thank yous” and you’re welcomes” to the female gender always closed with “young lady” regardless of age, with a grin on his face and a sparkle in his striking blue eyes.
Steve was born July 22, 1915, in Crabtree, Pa. the son of the late Joseph and Julia (Kriszt) Pasztor. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Laura (Eschbaugh) Pasztor, and five of his six children, Stevie, Jeanie, John, Louella, and Chris.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Peter and Joseph Pasztor; and three sisters, Rose Ford, Anna Pasztor, and Mary Pulay.
Steve is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Burke (Dr. Tom Burke) of Williamsport, Pa.; his wife, Mary Ann (Vaughn), of Brookside; brother, Andy Pasztor of Pleasant Grove; a sister, Margaret (Joe) Hutkai of Tiltonsville; several nieces and nephews.
He was Grandpap to 12 grandchildren and 14 great- grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bridgeport School District in care of Laura and Steve Pasztor Scholarship Fund, Industrial Drive Bridgeport, Ohio or simply say a kind word or do a good deed for someone who needs it.
