DaRe, Joseph Paul, 97, of St. Clairsville, formerly of Lansing, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at East Ohio Regional Hospital Martins Ferry surrounded by his loving family.
He was born August 7, 1915 in Treviso, Italy, a son of the late John and Regina (Fiorin) DaRe.
He was a retired Supervisor for Wheeling – Pittsburgh Steel Steubenville, a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church Wolfurst, a life time member of the Knights of Columbus, and also the Lansing Sportsman Club.
He played the accordion and banjo in various bands in his youth. He performed with “It’s Wheeling Steel” at the Capital Music Hall Wheeling. He worked during WWII for Curtis Wright Co. engineering the “Hell Diver” airplane.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Marino, and Alvin “Beez” DaRe; and a sister, Ceil Kubic.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Julia (Romanyak) DaRe; sons, Joseph Brian (Cathy) DaRe of Rayland, and Paul Edward DaRe of St. Clairsville; a daughter, Julia (Mike) Schafer of St. Clairsville; grandchildren, Carrie (Josh) McCumber, Chrissy DaRe, and Justin DaRe; great-grandchildren, Elleson and Matheson McCumber; also several loving nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to a celebration of Joe’s life on Sunday, July 28, 2013 from noon-3 and 6-8 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Road, Brookside Ohio.
Funeral Liturgy with mass will be said on Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wolfhurst with Fr. John Mucha officiating.
Interment at Holly Memorial Gardens Pleasant Grove. Wake service will be recited on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. and Panachida service at 7 p.m. both at the Funeral Home.
