DOUGHTY, Vera T. (Minder), 91, of St. Clairsville, OH, formerly of Sunset Heights, Bridge port, OH, died Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013 at Liza’s Place, Wheeling, WV.

She was born August 13, 1922 in Round Bottom, OH, a daughter of the late Wilbert and Mary Thressa (Tressie Neal) Minder.

Vera is a member of the Grace Presbyterian Church, Martins Ferry, and is a 66 year member of the former Bridgeport Chapter 452, Order of the Eastern Star.

In her early years she worked at the Ohio Valley Dairy and Blaw Knox Co. She last worked for the Ohio Department Job and Family Services where she was a Supervisor since 1978. She was honored in 2004 as the most senior employee in the state of Ohio with 57 years of service.

After her retirement in 2005 she volunteered at the Pied Piper Nursery School in St. Clairsville where she was known as “Grandma Vera.” During the summer months she was a volunteer at the Martins Ferry Public Library and East Ohio Regional Hospital.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years Clayton E. Doughty, three sisters; Doris Sabic, Betty Brown, and Rachel Barkey and four brothers; Ernest, Eugene, Kenneth and Joseph Minder.

Vera is survived by this special family; Mary Jane (Ray) Baker, and their children, Amy, Melodie, and Ben all of Easton, MD, John (Lee Ann) Barkey and their children, Sarah, and Lydia of Bridgeport, Thomas (Jan) Campbell and their daughter, Shannon (Jeffrey) Mauser and their children; Colton, and Dylan of Murrysville, PA, and Sheryl Ann Campbell of Martins Ferry and many nieces and nephews in the local area.

Friends will be received Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH, where services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, at 11 a.m. with Rev. William O. Webster officiating. Burial follows in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH.

Eastern Star services will be held at the funeral home Tuesday at 7 p.m. by Captina Chapter 489 Order of Eastern Star.
