MILLS, Olga Ann

MILLS, Olga Ann, 85, of St. Clairsville, OH, died Sunday, November 17, 2013 in Forest Hill Nursing Home.

She was born in Bellaire, OH, on May 1, 1928, daughter of the late Martin and Katherine Kovarik Mills.

Olga was a retired high school English teacher and librarian who was instrumental in starting the Wheeling Steel Corporate Library in the 1950s. After earning her master’s degree from Ohio University, she served as a librarian in various branches of the university and later in community libraries in the St. Clairsville and Wheeling area.

Olga excelled in oil painting, winning awards in the tri-state area including Best of Show during the 1960’s. Her favorite medium was photography.

For many years Olga was an active member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority of Ohio University. She was a Catholic in faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by many aunts and uncles, including George and Anna Spann and cousins, George and Richard Spann.

Surviving are her brother and sister-in-law, Leo T. Mills and Ann S. Mills of Maine; niece, Mary Lee Mills; nephews, Michael and Thomas Mills; cousins, Charles W. “Bill” Spann and Rosella Krizanek Courville and Frances Krizanek Reilly.

Family and friends are invited to attend graveside services at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Wheeling, West Virginia on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. with Father Thomas Chillog officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville. A celebration of life service for friends and family is also being planned for late spring 2014.

Olga’s family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the compassionate and caring nurses and staff at Forest Hill Care Center and Valley Hospice.
