SMITH, Edgar K. “Ed”
SMITH, Edgar K. “Ed,” 62, of Cambridge, died Friday, November 8, 2013, at the VA Medical Center, Cleveland.
He was born August 6, 1951, in Punxsutawney PA, son of the late William F. Smith and Alene (Kunselman) Smith.
Mr. Smith retired in August of 2012 from USF Holland Corporation, where he had been a truck driver.
He was Methodist by faith.
He was a member of the VFW Post 3760 of Byesville, Eagles Aerie 386 of Cambridge, Harley Owners Group, and American Motorcycle Association.
He was a 1969 graduate of Union Local High School.
Mr. Smith was a US Army veteran, having served from 1972 to 1975 during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his wife, Donna (Denver) Smith, whom he married July 23, 1988; a son, Alex of California; two step- sons, David (Shellie) Tysinger of Cambridge and Chris (Jane) Tysinger of Blacklick; a brother, William Frank Smith II of Cambridge; four sisters, Ravella (Mike) Hartman of Calabash NC, Becky (Lowell) Kemp of Bethesda, Janet Hughes (Dave Gerner) of Belmont, and Rene (Scott) Hughes of Belmont; seven grandchildren, Garrett, Cole, Nick, Lauren, Samantha, Blaine, and Linndy; a great-grandson, Tristan; special friends, Ike and Margo; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved cat, Joey.
Following his wishes, a cremation has taken place.
Family and friends may call on Thursday, November 14, 2013, from 3-6 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where a military honors memorial service conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council will begin at 6 p.m.
