HOLLOWAY, Mrs. Elizabeth Jane Cowen (Betty), 97, of Fayetteville, NC passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Ginny and Jeff Adkins of Lewisville, NC.

Betty was born February 23, 1916, in Bellaire, Ohio, daughter of the late Henry and Ada Cowen.

Preceding her in death were husbands, Glenn L. White and Eugene R. Holloway; brothers, Duane, Bob, George and Bill; and granddaughter, Beth Nabors.

Betty was a graduate of Bellaire High School, and attended Ohio Wesleyan University. She was a former employee of Imperial Glass, Belmont Federal Savings and Loan, The Capitol department store, The Fayetteville Garden Club, where she wrote the Newsletter, and the City of Fayetteville, and was a civil servant at Fort Bragg. Betty was a faithful member of Westminster Presbyterian Church for many years. She was fun-loving and enjoyed life, never wanting to miss out on anything. She loved to read and enjoyed gardening, painting and her family.

She is survived by son, Mike White and wife Delite of Wheeling, W.Va.; daughter Ginny Adkins and husband Jeff of Lewisville, NC; grandchildren Gretchen Nabors of Social Circle, Ga., Monica Barkley and husband Hubert of Wake Forest, NC, Joy Martin of West Union, Ohio, Gabe White and wife Denee of Gibsonia, Pa., and Wendy Bogers and husband Mike, Adam White and wife Tina, Arianne Yensen and husband Chris, Alicia White and fiance Doug, and Whitney Burris and husband Bill, all of the greater Wheeling, W.Va., area; 14 great – grandchildren; six great-great- grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as special friends Judy Norris and Leslie and Waylon Mitchell.

Memorial services were held February 23 in Fayetteville, NC, and will be held locally at a later date.
