CHAMBERS, James C. “L.B.”
CHAMBERS, James C. “L.B.,” 70, of Powhatan Point, OH, died Sunday, February 9, 2014, at Wheeling Hospital in Wheeling, WV.
He was born November 1, 1943 in Powhatan Point, OH, the son of the late Albert and Edith Boger Chambers.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Alberta Love; his brother, Vernon Chambers and a nephew, Dickey Love.
Jim served in the U.S. Army for three years, serving two of those years in Germany and was discharged as a ASPS-E5.
He was a former coal miner and truck driver, working for the Allison Mine and Y&O Coal Companies for 17 years.
He later worked as a truck driver for D&K Excavating and Belmont Aggregate until he retired.
Jim was a member of the Powhatan United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 0228 and Clarington Lodge 0597 F& AM.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Nancy Jeffers Chambers; a son, James E. Chambers of Powhatan Point, OH and a daughter, Shari (Chris) Plunkett of Lebanon, TN and several nieces.
Jim loved spending time fishing, watching football and hockey and playing with his dogs, Dinky and Boo.
Family and friends will be received at the Bauk necht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory, 186 Main St., Powhatan Point, OH on Wednesday from 2- 4 and 6-8 p.m., where services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Tom Carpenter officiating. Interment in the Powhatan Cemetery in Powhatan Point, OH, with full military honors conducted by the Powhatan Veterans Honor Guard.
Masonic services will be held on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
