Together Again

CHUCHIAK, Arline (Atkins), 90, of Short Creek, WV, passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2014, at Morton Plant Hospital, Clearwater, FL, with her beloved daughter Jean at her side.

Arline was born August 3 1923 in Avella, PA. She was the daughter of the late John and Macie Olivia (Rakes) Atkins.

Arline worked for many years in different jobs which included serving as the Postmaster for Short Creek, WV, and working at Pittsburgh International Airport Security. Arline was also heavily involved in local politics in the communities of Wheeling, Windsor Heights and Short Creek, WV in addition to remaining active in both county and state governments, playing a decisive role in organizing the campaign to save the Wheeling Suspension Bridge.

Arline was a member of the Windsor Heights Church of God. Many will remember Arline forever in their hearts for her hard work in her community; but most of all for her love and dedication to her family.

In addition to her parents, Arline was preceded in death by her devoted husband, John Chuchiak Jr.; two brothers, John (Pat) and Harry (Nancy) Atkins; and two sisters, Beatrice (Cal) Carter and Lorrine McCafferey.

Arline is survived by a beloved daughter, Jean Campo of Clearwater, FL, with whom Arline resided for the past 10 years; Arline’s future son-in-law, Larry Mevoli of St. Petersburg, FL; Jean’s former husband, Bob Campo of Clearwater, FL; her dedicated son, John (Patricia) Chuchiak III of Rayland, OH; two caring grandsons, Dr. John F. (Argelia) Chuchiak IV of Springfield, MO; and Mark Jason Chuchiak of Brilliant, OH; a great-grandson, Evan Michael Chuchiak; a step- great-granddaughter, Mia Layman and a step-great grandson Luis Castro; a devoted companion, Paul Barnhart of Gulfport, FL; and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends all over the United States.

Family and Friends will be received on Friday, April 11, 2014 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. and again on Saturday, April 12, 2014 from 10 a.m. until time of the Funeral Service at 11 a.m. the Chambers Funeral Home, 1030 Main Street, Wellsburg, WV (304) 737-3551, with Pastor Lori Williams officiating.

Interment will follow at Independence Cemetery, in Independence, PA next to her husband, John.
