Jimmie Allen Carpenter, 77, of Barnesville went to the Lord on Saturday, April 26, 2014 surrounded by his family.
He was born on December 7, 1936 in Fairview, Ohio to the late Harold G. and Sarah (Warner) Carpenter.
Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather and the high-light of his life was his great- grandchildren Sophie and Rex.
He enjoyed farming, fishing and especially spending time with his family. He was a member of Bethel Methodist Church and after it closed the Main Street Methodist Church in Barnesville.
He was a heavy-equipment operator for Consolidated Coal Company and later worked for the Belmont County Engineering Department from which he retired in 1999. Jim and Sue also operate a small beef farm outside of Barnesville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Dusty Lee and brother, Donnie Ray.
He is survived by his loving wife, Suzan “Sue” (Hall) Carpenter; sons, Mark (Roxanne) of Summersville, WV and Dave (Cindy) of Old Washington; grandsons, Brad (Jill) of Barnesville, SSG Eric (Angela) of Las Vegas, Cody (Jen Wehr) of Cambridge, Ryan of North Carolina, Tyler of Texas, Jacob of Barnesville and Billy (Bryanna) Freeman of Summersville, WV, Steven (Cassie) Patterson of Senecaville and Kristina Patterson of Byesville; great- grandchildren, Sophie and Rex of Barnesville, Briley Freeman of Summersville, WV, Hayden, Logan, Kamryn, Haylee and Xavier Patterson; sister, Roberta (Alva “Jeep”) Bates of Quaker City; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Norman and Pat Douglass and family and Sheila and Keith Carpenter.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 28, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. and Tuesday from noon until the time of service at 1 p.m. at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville, Ohio with Pastor Richard Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Friends Cemetery in Quaker City.
