BETTY ANN KOVACS

Elizabeth “Betty Ann” Kovacs, 67, of Flushing, Ohio died Friday, June 6, 2014 in Wheeling Hospital.

She was born in Wheeling, WV on August 8, 1946, daughter of the late Stanley and Elizabeth Shipta Mistak.

Betty Ann was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

She retired as the Director of Nursing at Harrison Community Hospital in Cadiz. Her nursing career spanned 47 years which included time at Barnesville Hospital and for Dr. Brown. She was well respected and a terrific care giver. She was a graduate from the Wheeling Hospital Nursing Program and was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Flushing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Stanley Jude Mistak.

Surviving are her husband, E. Patrick Kovacs; her three children, Patrick (Lori) Kovacs of Flushing, Jamie (Kimberly) Kovacs of St. Clairsville and Terri (Jay) Rogers of Flushing; six grandchildren which were the light of her life, Sami and Colin Kovacs, Konnar and Gracee Kovacs, Eli and Ben Rogers; a sister, Pauline (Bill) Madzia of Norwalk, Ohio; a brother, Ronald (Tammy) Mistak of Harlingen, Texas; special nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Sunday from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m.

Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at St. Paul’s Church in Flushing on Monday at 10 a.m., with Father Frederick Kihm the celebrant. Burial will follow in Rock Hill Cemetery, Flushing.
