Harvey Johnson, 94, of Shadyside, OH, died June 19, 2014 at the Ohio Valley Medical Center in Wheeling, WV.

He was born January 9, 1920 in Neffs, OH, a son of the late Wilbur and Nora Hess Johnson.

Harvey was a retired brakeman for the Wheeling Steel Corporation and a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church in Shadyside, Ohio and the American Legion Post 521.

He was a US Army veteran of World War II.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Nosal Johnson whom he married on September 27, 1947; two brothers, Ernie and Ollie Johnson and four sisters, Dorothy Martin, Ann Benda, Grace Yost and Zelda Blon.

Surviving are his two daughters, Judy Johnson and Glenna Isner both of Shadyside, OH. Also two grandchildren, Alisha (Corey) Dailey and Brant Isner as well as his beloved golden retriever, Katie.

Family and friends will be received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory 3900 Central Avenue Shadyside, OH on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 from 10 a.m. until time of funeral liturgy with Mass at 11 a.m. at the St. Mary Catholic Church Shadyside, Ohio with Fr. Samuel R. Saprano, as Celebrant. Entombment in the Guardian Angel Mausoleum at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Bellaire, OH.

Belmont County Council of the American Legion will conduct Full Military Honors at 10:15 a.m. in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Golden Endings Golden Retriever Rescue or the St. Mary Catholic Church.

Harvey Johnson, 94, of Shadyside, Ohio died Thursday, June 19, at OVMC. He was born January 9, 1920 the son of the late Wilbur and Nora (Hess) Johnson. Harvey was a WWII Army veteran and worked for Wheeling Steel as a railroad brakeman. He married his wife Mary (Nosal) Johnson on September 27, 1947.
