Violet W. Merryman, 90, of Bellaire, OH, died Monday, June 9, 2014 at the Country Club Retirement Campus in Bellaire, OH.
She was born February 29, 1924 in Bellaire, OH, a daughter of the late Ralph and Seretta Mae Lashley Wiggins.
Violet was a member of the Brooks Run United Methodist Church and a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She was a bookkeeper for the former Minerva’s Dress Shop in Bellaire, OH.
She and her husband, Ralph were the directors of the Keenagers, an entertainment group that visited area nursing homes and senior centers and performed at the Ohio State Fair.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her four brothers, Ash, Bud, Barney and Ike Wiggins; and three sisters, Lucy Dawson, Polly Crum and Patty Hess.
Surviving are her husband of 72 years, Ralph R. Merryman, whom she married in Bellaire, OH, on January 12, 1942; two children, Arlene Merryman of Pittsburgh, PA and Brett (Nancy) Merryman of Bellaire, OH.
Also 10 grandchildren, Alexis Radcliff of Athens, OH, Ashley Strasburger of Cincinnati, OH, Jack, Stephanie, Brooke, Casey, Rachael, Brett, Forrest and Abbie Merryman all of Bellaire, OH, four great grandchildren, Eden and Harmony Radcliff and Kate and Grace Strasburger and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory, 441 37th Street, Bellaire, OH on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. where services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. with Pastor David Mills officiating. Interment in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Bellaire, OH.
