Janie A. Popp, 93, of Shadyside, Ohio died Thursday, July 17th.
She was born May 20, 1921 in Bellaire, Ohio a daughter of the late George and Bertha Burkhart Ruble.
Janie was a homemaker, a loving, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Shadyside and the Shadyside Garden Club. She was a floral assistant for the former Silverio Florist and also a facility services employee of Wesbanco.
Janie loved her family and enjoyed spending time with all of her children and grandkids. She was very active in her church over the years in all capacities. She participated and served on numerous boards such as Session and Deacons along with Worship and Nominating committees. Janie also taught Sunday School at one time and was involved with the ladies Circle group and Women’s Association. Janie’s love of flowers were visible in all areas of the church, her home and yard. She had a special touch that beautified places dear to her heart.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George, one daughter, Peggy L. Marsh , two sisters and six brothers.
Surviving are her daughter, Sally J. Bobek and her husband, Ron, her son, Danny D. Popp and his wife Sibby and her son-in-law, Robert Marsh. Also six grandchildren, Nathan (Heidi) Bobek, Nicole (Jeffrey) Richardson, Nenet (J.R.) Gunion, Tyler Popp, Joe (Christi) Angelo and Brock Marsh and seven great grandchildren, Layla and Landry Bobek, Benjamin Richardson, Drew, Ashleigh, Alex and Natalie Angelo.
Family and friends will be received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory 3900 Central Avenue Shadyside, Ohio on Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. with Reverend Alice L. Phillips officiating. Interment in the Union Cemetery in St. Clairsville, Ohio.
