Pearl Ann Joswiak, 94, of Lafferty, OH, died Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Wheeling Hospital.
She was born August 12, 1919 in Preghena, Italy, a daughter of the late Peter and Josephine Alexander Calovini.
Pearl was the retired postmaster of Lafferty Post Office, serving in that capacity for 46 years. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Lafferty, having served as a eucharistic minister; the Catholic Women’s Club; Lafferty Volunteer Fire Department. Auxiliary; B.P.W. and the U.S. Postal NAPUS.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Joswiak; three sisters: Barbara Rizzardi, Maria Melchiori and Olivia Calovini; a brother, Fidenzio Calovini; five nephews: Eugene and Henry Rizzardi, Ted Stoica, Bill Bellew and Robert Fox; a great-nephew, Tim Stoica; a niece, Marie Bellew; a great-niece, Yvonne Bellew; and one great-great-niece, Sara Mae Twarog.
Surviving are four nieces: Erma Stoica, Anna Fox, Annita and Ted McCort and Barb and Dale McCoy; and several great- and great- great- nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Beck-Altmeyer Funeral Home & Crematory, 204 W. Main St., St. Clairsville, where a vigil service will be held at 3:45 p.m.
Funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Clairsville, with Fr. Thomas Chillog as celebrant. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.
