Charles R. Funkhouser, 73, of Bethesda, OH, died Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at his home.

He was born October 2, 1940, in Bellaire, OH, son of the late John Funkhouser and Ethel Moore Funkhouser.

He was an honorary deacon of Hillcrest Bible Church. Charles enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching birds, as well as being an avid reader. It was his privilege serving the country he loved, in the United States Army.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Keli Phillips; twin infant sons; brothers, Junior, Donnie, Roger, and Tommy Funkhouser; and sister, Hope Funkhouser.

Charles is survived by his wife, Vicki Funkhouser; daughters Penny (Dan) Schmitt, Kayla Shultz; sons, Glenn (Amanda) Phillips, Tom Funkhouser all of Bethesda, OH; sisters, Ellen (Ron) Duvall of Centerville, OH, Sherry (John) Underwood of Belmont, OH; brothers, James (Jeanne) Funkhouser of Lynchburg, OH, Richard Funkhouser of Belmont, OH, John Funkhouser of Hagerstown, IN, Mike (Roberta) Funkhouser of Florida; eight grandchildren; three great-grand- children with another one on the way; sister-in-law, Lois Funkhouser of Belmont, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Charles will be conducted, Sunday, August 3, 2014 at 2 p.m., with visitation from 1 p.m. until the time of service, Hillcrest Bible Church, 407 S. Main Street, Bethesda, OH. Pastor Jack Palmer officiating.
