Mary Z. DelVecchio, 94, died August 7, 2014 at Liza’s Place.

She was surrounded by her nieces, Chris Parker, Susan Lee and her faithful caregivers, who had cared for her in her home.

Mary was born in Stewartsville, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Sam Zatezalo and Mary Visnic Zatezalo.

She grew up on the family farm in Rayland, OH. During World War II, she worked for the government as a secretary to a general in Dayton, OH. She retired from Wheeling Steel, Yorkville, after over 30 years of service.

She was devoted to her family, but her passions were her husband, the late Settemio DelVecchio and creating a beautiful home on the family farm. Together, they added their creative touches to design a one of a kind masterpiece.

After working their day jobs, they would come home and work all hours of the night. They never complained about hard work. When Saturday night came, they would get dressed up to go dancing at the Pine Room or one of many other venues.

Aunt Mary was known for her sumptuous Italian dishes and wonderful family dinners. Uncle Steam and she always had time for their nieces and nephew.

Preceding her in death were sisters, Mildred Lapoczka(Albert), Helen “Babe” Kaschak (Michael); and her brothers, Mike Zatezalo (Erma), Dewey Zatezalo (Linda), Robert Summerville (Madge); an infant brother; and her special great- nephew, Arik Parker

She had several nieces and nephews, their children and many friends.

Mary was blessed to have wonderful care givers throughout her illness. We can never thank them enough for their love and outstanding abilities to meet all of her needs.

We would be remiss if we didn’t mention the men who mowed the yard, harvested the hay, and plowed the snow. Etc. Please know that we will be eternally grateful.

A special thank you to Dr. Doug Midcap, his staff and the compassionate personnel at Liza’s Place.

Visitation will be on Monday August 11, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 102 Main St. Tiltonsville, Ohio.

Private burial, officiated by Pastor Dan Holt, will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be at Hopewell Cemetery in Rayland, OH.
